Installation steps.

  1. Download the Typiq installer (.exe)

  3. Accept the license agreement

Troubleshooting

Windows SmartScreen Warning

If Windows SmartScreen blocks the installer, click "More info" then "Run anyway". This happens because Typiq is a new application and hasn't yet built up a reputation with Microsoft.

Antivirus False Positive

Some antivirus software may flag new applications. Add Typiq to your antivirus whitelist or temporarily disable real-time protection during installation.

Installation steps.

  1. Download the Typiq disk image (.dmg)

  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file

    Double-click the .dmg file in your Downloads folder.

  3. Drag Typiq to the Applications folder

    In the window that opens, drag the Typiq icon to /Applications.

  4. Launch Typiq from Applications or Spotlight

    Open your Applications folder or press Cmd+Space and search for "Typiq".

Troubleshooting

"Apple cannot verify the developer" — how to open Typiq

Typiq isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer ID, so the first time you open it macOS shows a security prompt. The app is safe — here's the one-time bypass.

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) Typiq in your Applications folder, choose Open, then click Open again in the dialog.
  2. If macOS still refuses with "is damaged and can't be opened", open Terminal and run: xattr -cr /Applications/Typiq.app — then double-click Typiq normally.

You only need to do this once per version. After the first open, macOS remembers your decision.

Installation steps.

  1. Download the Typiq AppImage file

Typiq runs entirely on your device. No telemetry, no analytics on what you type, no data sold to anyone. The only network call we make is to Stripe when you activate a license. Lessons, progress, and adaptive drills all stay local.

After purchase, activate in 4 steps.

After purchasing a license, you'll receive an activation key via email. Open Typiq, go to Settings > Activate License, enter your key, and click Activate.

  1. Open Typiq and go to Settings

  2. Click "Activate License"

  3. Enter the key from your email

  4. Click Activate — you're done!

Common install questions.

Typiq won't launch after installation. What should I do?
Try restarting your computer. If the issue persists, reinstall Typiq and ensure your system meets the minimum requirements.
I lost my activation key. How can I recover it?
Check the email you used for purchase. If you can't find it, contact support@typiq-app.com with your purchase details.
Can I install Typiq on multiple computers?
A Personal license allows installation on 1 device. Classroom and School licenses support multiple installations.
Is my data synced between devices?
Currently, progress data is stored locally. Cloud sync is planned for a future update.

Typiq is built by a small indie studio. An Apple Developer ID costs $99 per year, and a Microsoft EV code-signing certificate runs about $300+ per year (plus a hardware token). We've chosen to invest in shipping a great app first; code-signing comes when sales support that recurring cost. Until then, every release ships with a SHA-256 hash on this page so you can verify integrity yourself.
