For your data protection officer
What we store when a class uses the dashboard: a personal student code and typing results (speed, accuracy, lesson, practice time). Student names are encrypted in the teacher's browser with a key derived from the teacher's password; that key never reaches us, so we cannot read the names. Stored on an EU server (Hetzner, Germany), deletable on request.
What we never collect: student emails, full names required, birthdays, photos, ads identifiers, or any tracking. The desktop app itself runs fully offline — without the dashboard, no student data leaves the classroom at all.
Privacy for schools in the US and Canada
- What we collect about a student: a personal code and typing results (speed, accuracy, lesson, practice time). Nothing else. Names are encrypted in the teacher's browser with a key we never receive.
- No advertising, no profiling, no sale or sharing of student data, no secondary use. The school owns the data; we process it only to provide the dashboard, as a school official under the school's direct control (FERPA).
- Under 13: the school consents on behalf of parents, as the FTC's COPPA rule allows for educational use; the school can review or delete a student's data at any time from the dashboard.
- Hosting in the EU (Hetzner, Germany), encrypted in transit; deletion on request within 10 business days, and automatically 12 months after the pilot or licence ends; breach notification to the school within 72 hours.
We sign your district's student data privacy agreement (the SDPC National Data Privacy Agreement with state exhibits) on request, and provide the vendor paperwork a US or Canadian school needs, including a W-8BEN-E.
